My roots in Western North Carolina run deep. These mountains are in my blood, and I try to spend as much time as possible enjoying the beautiful area I call home. I’m deeply interested in the culture and art of Appalachia, and how to share our unique heritage and lifestyle with the world.
I have spent much of my adult life teaching high school English in Henderson County, at the same high school from which I graduated. My three daughters are still in the public school system there, and I remain involved in the educational community, especially in Mills River.
When I’m not working, I’m trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible. I love writing (especially poetry), photography, bouldering, hiking, trivia, and going to concerts. My husband and three daughters are the best adventure buddies I could hope for. They’re always ready to find a new swimming hole in Pisgah Forest, take a spin on the Blue Ridge Parkway, or shop the day away in downtown Brevard or Hendersonville. At home, they’re helping me manage our four dogs and working on their baking skills.
I am so grateful to be raising my family in my favorite place in the world, and I feel honored to be able to help others feel as at home here as I do.
